Who is the course suitable for?

This qualification is ideal for anyone considering a career in caring for children and may already have a basic understanding of childcare, either through previous completion of a qualification in Caring for Children or through workplace experience.

It could also support anyone with re-engaging with learning or progressing to learning at the next level, and break down barriers to be able to enter the childcare workforce.

Course content

Completion of the level 1 Caring for Children qualification will give learners a basic understanding of the knowledge and the skills needed to care for young children, for example:

  • Knowing the support a young child needs to gain confidence through play
  • Understanding activities that will develop a child’s talking and listening skills
  • Understanding the role of a routine in the care of a young child
  • Knowing about the need for a healthy diet for the young child.
